The Shorey brothers, John and Frank, worked as brickmakers at their father’s brickyard in Norridgewock, Maine. It was hard, dirty work, but preferable to joining the U.S. Army when the American Civil War broke out in 1861. But neither of them could avoid the war for long.

Both were drafted in 1863. They were enlisted with the Third Maine Infantry and became inseparable. Same company. Same tent. They made the best of it at first, bragging to their families about their prowess in marching and how the Army food was fattening John.

But the war finally caught up with both of them. Two bullets. Two wounds. One survivor.

Episode 12 premieres June 24. Listen to the trailer now.
